Signify, the company that produces lighting under the Philips brand, has introduced a new series of LED bulbs designed to be installed in sockets for traditional incandescent bulbs. The new series is called Philips Ultra Efficient LED and, according to Signify, consumes 40% less energy than similar LED bulbs.

Signify also claims that the bulbs’ lifespan is three times longer than similar LED bulbs, meaning it should last an average of 50 years in a household where the bulb is lit for three hours a day. The bulbs will be sold in three different variants that correspond to 60W, 65W, and 100W.

In terms of pricing, Philips Ultra Efficient LED seems to be slightly more expensive than similar options. The 60W and 65W variants cost around $10 each, while the 100W variant costs around $15.
