According to 9to5Google, Google is developing a new feature for its Nest cameras that can detect when your garage door opens and closes. Based on text found in the latest APK for one of Google’s apps, Nest cameras will be able to send notifications when your garage door is opened or closed, as long as you have a Nest Aware subscription.
The app will also be able to automatically warn you if the garage door has been open for an extended period of time, if you or someone else has forgotten to close it, for example.
As with any features that leak in this way, it’s unclear when, or even if, Google will actually release the feature. However, we hope that it will happen soon as it sounds like a pretty useful feature for those with cameras pointed at their garage.
