DJI has unveiled a new Inspire drone primarily aimed at those who want to shoot film for professional purposes. The new DJI Inspire 3 is equipped with a Zenmuse X9-8K Air Gimbal Camera, which DJI describes as follows:
The X9-8K Air covers 14+ stops of dynamic range, which captures rich highlight and shadow details in complex lighting scenarios like sunrises and sunsets.

DJI’s proprietary DL mount, the X9-8K Air is compatible with an additional 18 mm F2.8 full-frame ultra-wide lens and a new telephoto lens specially made for 8K aerial cinematography as well as full-frame 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm lenses for a premium selection designed with aerial filming in mind..
The Inspire 3 also comes with an FPV camera that is used by the pilot to maneuver the drone. The drone also features sensors that prevent it from colliding with objects during flight. It comes with a remote control that allows the pilot to monitor the drone from almost 15 kilometers away. There is also the option to connect an additional control to the drone, where the secondary control can be used by a filmmaker to control the drone’s main camera and gimbal.
The drone is capable of flying at speeds of up to 90 km/h and a single battery provides about 28 minutes of flight time. The DJI Inspire will be released in June and will cost $16,500. Below is a video from DJI where they present the Inspire 3 in more detail.
