This week, people started posting on Reddit about YouTube blocking the site for users who utilize some form of ad blockers. These blockers are commonly used to bypass the amount of ads on the site. However, advertisements are what generate significant revenue for YouTube, so it’s something that Google probably wants people to see.
Several users have started receiving notifications that ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube when they visit the site. As seen in the image above, they suggest either paying to avoid ads or disabling the ad blocker to continue using the site.
This blocking feature is apparently being tested currently, but the odds of it being implemented universally are not particularly high.
