The highly adult-restricted trailer for “Kraven The Hunter” has finally been released – expect wild animals, bulging muscles, and a lot, lot of violence.
“Kraven The Hunter” is the next Marvel film in Spider-Man’s universe. However, unlike most movies about the friendly neighborhood web-slinger, this one is very much restricted for children – a rare concept for a superhero film. But the fact that the film is produced by Sony instead of being distributed by Disney explains it. Marvel Studios was not involved in the project.
Kraven the Hunter (or Sergei Dimitri Symostivych Kravinoff) is a nemesis of Spider-Man in the Marvel universe. However, he is not evil but rather somewhat of an anti-hero with a strong sense of honor. For all those longing for beastly machismo, a safari on the prairie, computer-animated lions, gym-sculpted male bodies beyond human capability, and a guttural Russel Crowe with questionable Russian accent, the trailer is like catnip from heaven.
It promises to be a guaranteed bloody and feral origin story with Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role. J.C. Chandor, known for both action and drama, is in the director’s chair.
