The classic sport with its stylish preppy fashion and hard-training players has served as a backdrop for romantic love dramas and comedies in recent decades, such as “Wimbledon” from 2004, where Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany portray a couple in love, and “Match Point” from the following year, featuring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in similar roles.
In recent years, tennis films have focused more on depicting the incredible athletes, both male and female, in the sport and the challenges they overcome on and off the court. However, Luca Guadagnino plans to change that. The award-winning Italian director returns to familiar territory, using the tennis court as a backdrop for psychological games and erotic intrigue.
Zendaya plays the promising tennis star Tashi, who is forced to become a coach after an injury on the court. In her youth, she had a love triangle with the two guys, Patrick and Art.
