Sennheiser Accentum promises to provide the same features as the luxury model Momentum – but at a more affordable price.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 is one of the best wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). But they are expensive! Now, Sennheiser is declaring a price war on noise-canceling wireless music with an entirely new model, Sennheiser Accentum Wireless.

Highlights

  • 50 hour battery playtime
  • Hybrid ANC
  • Customizable sound
  • 37mm dynamic transducers
  • MSRP of $179.95 USD

“ACCENTUM Wireless was developed to outperform their price tag, sharing much of the most desirable DNA of our award-winning MOMENTUM 4,” says Christian Ern, Sennheiser Principal Product Manager, “Consumers are getting breathtaking Sennheiser sound without sacrificing the battery life or wireless freedom that makes them so enjoyable to use all day long.”

Among the many superlatives in the press release, we can read that Accentum features 37 mm dynamic drivers and ambient noise reduction through both ANC and passive isolation. However, there is no information about whether the noise cancellation is adjustable or whether the headphones have an ambient mode. So, we can assume that these are features reserved for the more expensive Momentum model.

The Accentum use hybrid ANC, which uses microphones on both the outside and inside of the headphones to cancel out sound.

Accentum Wireless features:

Other features include:

  • 50 hour battery playtime. This compares well to the 60 hour playtime of the Momentum 4 and indeed outclass the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 with “only” 30 hours. Accentum can also guick-charge in only 10 minutes for up to 5 hours of extra playtime.
  • Included USB-C cable for wired listening when Bluetooth is not needed.
  • You can customize your listening in the Smart Control App with a choice of sound modes like Bass Boost and Podcast mode as well as the built-in 5 band equalizer.
  • Transparency mode that allows you to take in your surroundings without removing the headphones.
  • Lightweight and ergonomic design for long listening sessions.
  • Accentum comes with two built-in microphones and a dedicated wind-reduction mode for taking voice calls. Adjustable side-tone with advanced signal processing keeps conversations with minimized background distractions. Multipoint seamlessly switches the active wireless connection from one Bluetooth device to another without the need for re-pairing the devices.
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.2 (codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX HD)

Reviews

There’s plenty of mid-range clarity to make all kinds of vocals sing, and the only minor compromise I can find in my brief listening test is that some upper-mid and high details appear to be rolled off. This is where the 5-band equalizer comes in handy though, and I was able to lift the 4kHz and 8kHz modes to bring more insight into the upper parts of the frequency range.

The robust design and secure fit feel smart, but the Accentum does compromise on some nice-to-have features at the price.
