Apple is soon to release iOS 17.2, and now we have learned that the update will give both iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 support for the next generation wireless charging standard, Qi2.

With support for the new standard, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 will work with Qi2 wireless chargers. Qi2 is a next-generation Qi wireless charging technology that includes the same type of magnetic coupling as Apple’s MagSafe. Qi2 devices will then work as accessories that support MagSafe. It is unclear if Qi2 chargers will be able to charge the iPhone with 15 W like MagSafe.

Apple added Qi2 support to the iPhone 15 models before they were released, so they are already compatible with the standard.
